Mic
This was done from a studio photo session of my friend Mic. Preferring to work with black and white photos as source material allows for a rejection of 'normal' colouring and let the colours show themselves without restriction. Composition plays a large part in holding this piece together. Using background colours as counterpoint details, particularly the blue in his eyes and the green to link the face/hair to the background. The hardest part of this work was choosing what colour and texture should be used for the space above the green line. Keeping simple forms for the background offset the level of concentrated detail of hair etc.
